We are a non-profit organisation that has been in existence for 6 years.
Initially, known as Loving and Affectionate Couple (LAC), our primary goal was to bridge the gap in communication between couples and create a platform in a loving and affectionate environment. We have organised several successful health seminars and family conferences in the past to enhance the unification of couples in our immediate community.
A few years ago, alongside the community, we realised that the family unit was always present and played a major role in the decision-making process of a couple. Therefore, we decided to adopt the Loving and Affectionate Family (LAF) name and focus on every aspect of the family by bringing and keeping the family unit together.
In 2017, we successfully organised an event to promote integration between families from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Between 2018 and 2019, LAF organised the “LAF Active Fest”, a social event in which Social Workers and Garda Síochána were able to mentor our youths and their parents from migrant communities and ethnical minorities.
Based on the success and contribution of past events, we have great things planned for the future. LAF Program from 2019 to 2020 is called “LAF Engage” and targets the migrant community within Fingal County and Dublin 15.
A series of through professional development, community games, cuisine
and inter-cultural awareness family-friendly activities will be organised from September 2019 to February 2020 to engage locals and migrants.
Loving and Affectionate Family still aims at providing career guidance and
empowering families to achieve their professional and life goals. To address gender equality and entrepreneurship themes and give voice to those unheard we are planning to launch a “Women’s Empowerment Project” in the future.
In the past years, we were privileged to have the support of different
organisations and volunteers passionate about giving back to the community.
It is clear to us that we would not have done much without the support of the community; therefore, it is our utmost goal to give back to them. We hope to continue to have a positive impact on youth, women and men by providing outstanding solutions to their problems and fuel for their dreams.
